With the introduction of the R1, the category of wall outlet may now be said to have reached the stage of true maturity.
The contacts are made of beryllium copper which had previously proved its superiority in the ultra high performance M1/F1. After exhaustive testing, a combination of platinum and palladium plating, the same as used in the M1/F1, was chosen. 30% glass filled PBT proved unmatched for its thermal dissipation and vibration damping properties.
