Stanley Turrentine – That’s Where It’s At (Tone Poet)

Rs.3,999

180-gram LP

Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original master tape

Plated and pressed at RTI

The Blue Note Tone Poet Series was born out of Blue Note President Don Was’ admiration for the exceptional audiophile Blue Note LP reissues presented by Music Matters. Was brought Joe Harley (from Music Matters), a.k.a. the “Tone Poet,” on board to curate and supervise a series of reissues from the Blue Note family of labels.

What happens when you combine Stanley Turrentine’s blues-drenched tenor saxophone with Les McCann’s soulful, funky piano? You end up with one of their best albums, considered to be a foundational session of soul jazz. They are joined by bassist Herbie Lewis and drummer Otis “Candy” Finch. With standout tracks “Smile, Stacey,” the deep blue groove “Soft Pedal Blues” and “Light Blue.” The Blue Note Tone Poet Series features all-analog, remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
